Annual SOIIF Walk for Human Needs

The 40th Annual Southport/Oak Island Interchurch Fellowship Walk (SOIICF) is scheduled for October 20, 2024 at St. Phillips Episcopal Church, 205 East Moore St.,

Southport.Registration begins at 1:30 p.m.

Special Music will be provided by Rev. Wade Brinkhoff, Saint Peter Lutheran, singing and playing guitar. A brief prayer service for community needs is included, led by the multiple clergy of the SOIICF member churches.

The Walk will begin at 2:00 p.m. The 3-Mile Walk begins and ends at St. Phillips, passing six of our member churches where water will be available. The route will be clearly marked with signs.

Over the prior 39 years of Walks $366,001 has been raised to support human needs in our community. Rental payments, water and electric bill assistance, and food insecurity are a few areas of ongoing need. Additionally, we donate 25% of the funds raised to Church World Service, a world-wide ministry helping people fight hunger and meet other needs.

Bring your neighbors, invite your children and grandchildren, and join us for a day of fellowship and fun!

There are other ways to participate, if unable join us for the Walk:
• Support a Walker with a generous donation
• Be a Spirit Walker – raise funds though unable to Walk
• Be a Volunteer Helper on Walk Day
• Recruit and promote the Walk in your church or group
• Pray for the ICF Walk and for the poor and hungry

The Food Pantry is continuing regular distribution schedules.

Extra cleaning procedures are being practiced.

Please continue to support the food pantry with food or monetary donations.
